(WTNH) – There’s a new plan to put an end to the military housing crisis here in Connecticut and across the nation.

Connecticut military families said they’re dealing with filthy conditions in their homes.

It’s hard to get repairs done quickly when the landlord manages thousands of homes, but some lawmakers said they don’t want any more excuses.

Virginia Senator Mark Warner said his new bill would increase accountability and speed up the repair process.

Military leaders admit they’re partly to blame for the issue getting out of hand by failing to keep track of private housing contractors.

The new bill would require the Department of Defense to create an electronic system to help make sure contractors are fixing problems.
